Ashley + Abel | Durham Family Session (turned proposal!)

What Ashley thought she was going into as a family session ended with Abel down on one knee with their little princess on his other, and it couldn't have been sweeter!

I had the joy of capturing Ashley and Abel's maternity pictures welcoming their little Stella into their lives. I've never met a sweeter family who just glows with love for each other. I loved every second with them! I was overjoyed when Abel called me to plan the surprise proposal. Ashley was gifted a "family session" for her birthday, so she excitedly went along helping me plan the session the entire time leading up to the big day.

My sweet boyfriend, Randy, came along with me early to pick a location in Duke Gardens and set up the entire picnic, along with Abel's parents. I was full of nerves!! I was doing everything I could so I wouldn't say something to give it away, but I was so excited at the same time.

It wasn't until we turned the corner on a path halfway through the session did she realize what a big surprise this ordinary day held! The look of surprise and awe was priceless, and I felt so honored to to capture this incredible moment for this amazing family!

Hans + Coren | Virgina Wedding

Hans and Coren found me through one of my sweetest clients, the Woods here in Raleigh, and asked me to capture their Wedding in the beautiful mountains of Charlottesville, VA at the gorgeous Veritas Vineyards. Of course, I was thrilled to be apart of such an amazing wedding with the two sweetest people you could meet.

Hans and Coren have known each other since their teen years, and as could be heard from all of the toasts their friends and family gave, they've been a match made in heaven from the start. They both have this glow whenever they're around each other and it was the most beautiful thing to capture.

Allison + James | Raleigh Wedding

This wedding set at The Oaks at Salem which is STUNNING was perfect from start to finish! Allison was the most beautiful bride surrounded by the loveliest of ladies.

Woods | Raleigh Family Session

This is the second time I've had the pleasure to work with this precious family, and it was such a joy to watch their family light up with love! Scott's parents were able to join us while here on their visit from the UK. I love that we were able to get some photos of them and their sweet grand babies! I'm already looking forward to the next time I get to photograph this sweet family. :)

Allison was such a gorgeous bride, and sweet as could be too! It was such a joy to be apart of her wedding.

One of my favorite things about working with her is that her family was apart of every step of the process - from the meetings and consultations, to the bridal session - and every part in between. It was so awesome to be involved in the months leading up to the wedding and getting to know the whole family! It was such a pleasure to be apart of their beautiful big day.

Heather + Jonathon | Clayton Wedding

Libby | Raleigh Senior Session

Ashley | Cary Senior Session

Not only did we get chased by some craaazy chickens (yes, there was some serious running and screaming like little girls going on! ;) but we had such a fun time riding round the farm and getting some beautiful photos. Ashley is seriously the sweetest girl with the biggest heart for horses. She's even been riding practically since she could walk! It was so much fun to be able to capture her, gorgeous as she is, and one of her biggest passions. :)

Jackson + Manda | Raleigh Engagement Session

When you hear the words, "soul-mate" it fits absolutely perfectly for Jackson and Manda. They just fit so well together and the smile they put on each other's face is beautiful. I loved getting to capture the love they have, not only for each other, but for their Savior, which is so evident in their lives. We had such a blast going downtown for their engagement session!

Naomi and Nathaniel's big day couldn't have been more perfect. Their day was entirely full of joy. My favorite part of the wedding had to be the worship service they had right before the vows - seeing a marriage start of so grounded in Christ was inspiring. It was an incredible ceremony to witness, and such a beautiful day to be apart of all around! I'm so thankful I was able to be there each step of the day and to have been able to capture it!

Hannah | Raleigh Senior Session

Oh, Hannah, you couldn't have been any more perfect. After weeks of rain, colder weather, and then random days with sunshine, (crazy NC!) we were more than grateful to arrive at the beautiful Oak View Park with a warm breeze and blue skies all around! It made for a wonderful session.

Hannah is one of those people that you meet, and you instantly love. You can see the glow she has just through the photographs!

I couldn't believe she's hardly ever been in front of the camera - umm, hello model! So beautiful.

And those curls! My goodness, I'm slightly jealous. :)

Eeeek! A cotton field at sunset... so, so perfect! Loved finding this little gem.

Emily | Raleigh Portrait Session

There are so many things that I love about my sister, (the list is pretty long!) like the fact that she recognizes all my favorite songs on the radio, she's absolutely crazy but incredibly hilarious at the same time (most of the time, we're asking where on earth that came from?!) and she quotes Disney all the time, which is kind of awesome.

But one of my favorite things? She loves to be in front of the camera, so whenever I find a new location, she's the model, and personally, I think she kind of rocks the camera. (see below picture)

She's never short of photos (which my mom loves!) and she'll randomly come up to me and ask to go take pictures. "But Katen, I can wear my new dress and bow!" - it's adorable.
